RFID Shield for Credit Cards
What are RFID cards?
Many credit cards, id's, and other documents have RFID chips in them. Legislation is also in place in the United States that would require your driver's license to have an RFID chip on it as well. RFID chips can be read from the distance, even without taking your cards out of your wallet. They can be read even while your wallet is in your purse or pocket.
RFID chips contain data that could be read at a distance. While vendors of such products make attempts at encrypting the data stored on the card, these counter-measures have been defeated at times. The best protection is to make sure that no one can get the data from your card without your permission.
How does the RFID Shield work?
The metal shielding in the RFID Shield acts as a "Faraday cage", preventing radio frequency waves from getting to your card and keeping your data inaccessible. When it comes time to use your card, take it out of the sleeve and use it as you normally would - the shield does not break or inactivate your card; it merely keeps it protected when not in use.
What is it
The RFID Shield for credit cards is a sleeve that prevents anyone from accessing data on RFID enabled credit cards and smart cards. You simply slide your card into the sleeve and put it into your wallet. The sleeve fits into the card slots in your wallet or purse. You do not have to replace your favorite wallet.
The RFID Shield is made out of durable plastic and will withstand a lot of use. It provides an additional benefit of keeping your card protected against everyday wear and tear. The card fits snugly into the sleeve and will not fall out by itself. The sleeve's metal shielding creates a Faraday cage that prevents anyone from reading the data stored on your card. Your private data is secure.
