RFID Uses
RFID technology has great potential to ease our everyday lives as well as bring a lot of value to various industries. However, any technology brings along with it many concerns that often conflict with the benefits. With RFID, the greatest threat is privacy.
RFID chips can be found in many devices you might not even suspect. They can be in your pasport, credit card, debit card, ATM card, student ID card, employee identification card, and if some governments have it their way, in your driver's license
The following products currently use RFID technology. Are any of these in your pocket right now? Are you adequately protected?
- Passports (US and others)
- Smart Cards around the world
- Visa Contactless cards such as the Chase Blink card
- MasterPack PayPass credit cards
- American Express expresspay cards
- ExxonMobil SpeedPass payment cards
